With the iPad there are two docks that you can choose from. There is the normal doc that enables you to charge and sync-up your iPad, along with audio connections and peripheral connectors. There is also the same dock but with a keyboard attached. The iPad keyboard dock has the brushed aluminium keyboard as used for the iMac, and it is certainly a very attractive device. The dock comes complete with the usual 30-pin connectors, and it enables you to charge your iPad, via the USB power adapter using the mains power supply.
You can also use your dock to connect up your camera, using the correct connectors, which makes it great for use with a your favorite cameras. The iPad's touch screen keyboard is great for short notes, but if you want to write anything of length then you really want a proper keyboard. Having a way to work on the iPad opens it up to so many more people, who would have been put off by the lack of a free keyboard. Using the keyboard dock, you can pretty much use the iPad as a touch-screen desktop. This is bound to open up the iPad to a massive market, as compared to Apple's other desktop offerings, the iPad is very cheap.
The iPad has been compared to a large iPhone, but it offers so much more. Connecting up a keyboard with this dock means that you can use your iPad in so many more ways. It is expected that almost all of the applications available at the app store will work on the iPad, but there will also be a load of apps specific to this device coming out that are sure to make use of the keyboard connection. You can be sure that with the keyboard you can get work done when you need to, but then you can un-dock your device and just enjoy the multi-touch experience. It's bound to be one of the top iPad accessories out there.
